Covenantal love reflects God's deep, relational love for His people, highlighted through family metaphors like marriage or parenthood. This love, called "ḥesed" in Hebrew, is steadfast and enduring but involves expectations. While God's love is unconditional, the benefits of the covenant depend on His people’s faithfulness. This love invites a response, urging people to love God and others in return. The relationship is not unilateral but involves mutual interaction. Though we can never repay God’s love, we are called to reflect His love to others, knowing that God's compassion endures even when His covenant promises may depend on human response.

The baptism of Jesus is what we could call an interpretative key to understanding his ministry. Just as the Israelites passed through the waters as they fled from slavery in Egypt and as they entered the Promised Land, Jesus, as the Lord of a new Exodus, also passes through the waters. The gospel is the story of a new and greater Exodus. But there is a price to pay. As the public ministry is Jesus is about to get underway, his baptism in the waters of the River Jordan anticipates the baptism that that Jesus must still receive, his suffering and death.

In today’s world, slavery is a reality we completely reject. But in the Bible, slavery is neither condemned nor condoned, it’s just an accepted part of the social structure. What’s condemned in the Bible is every abuse within slavery, every sin committed against slaves, every wrongdoing and mistreatment.

While slavery itself is not condemned, it is in fact part of:
a spiritual structure to help us understand our relationship to Jesus Christ – Who is the Lord, the Master, the King! In the Ancient World, wherever there was a lord, there were slaves. If Jesus is our Lord, then we are His slaves – BUT! – we are His slaves who have become His friends! So says today’s passage in John 15.

In the New Testament, slavery was very, very common and did not have the stigma it has today. For some people, it was the best of all possibilities because they were cared for (along with their family) for the whole of their life. And history shows that sometimes, these “slaves” were so well-loved and so well-cared for by a good and faithful master, they would actually go to their master and say, “Master, I want to serve you for the rest of my life.”

We believe that one should repent of his sins and accept Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and be born again by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God (Jn 3.8, Ro 10.9).
Water Baptism
We believe that after believing in the Son of God, one should take immersion baptism in the water in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit on his way to the consummation of his personal salvation (Mt 28.18-20, Mk 16.16).



The Lord′s Supper
We believe that the Lord Jesus instituted the Lord′s Supper in remembrance of Him and to proclaim His death and we should eat the bread and drink the cup until He comes (1Co 11.23-32).
The Holy Spirit Baptism
We believe that one should receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit to be empowered to lead a victorious Christian life and to become witness to Jesus and to do his ministry (Lk 24.49, Ac 1.8, 2.1-4). We also believe that various Gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit are available to a believer for the building up of the Body of Christ (1Co 12.8-10, Gal 5.22-23).




The Church
We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, called, separated and prepared as His Bride and every born again believer should enjoy the fellowship of other believers in a local Church (Eph 1.22-23, 2Co 11.2, Ac 2.38-47).

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ will come again for the second time in the mid-sky and the prepared church will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (1Thes 4.13-18).

First Reading: Isaiah 42: 1-4, 6-7 or Isaiah 40: 1-5, 9-11
1 Behold my servant, I will uphold him: my elect, my soul delighteth in him: I have given my spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

2 He shall not cry, nor have respect to person, neither shall his voice be heard abroad.

3 The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

4 He shall not be sad, nor troublesome, till he set judgment in the earth: and the islands shall wait for his law.

6 I the Lord have called thee in justice, and taken thee by the hand, and preserved thee. And I have given thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles:

7 That thou mightest open the eyes of the blind, and bring forth the prisoner out of prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Acts 10:34-38
Peter proceeded to speak to those gathered
in the house of Cornelius, saying:
“In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly
is acceptable to him.
You know the word that he sent to the Israelites
as he proclaimed peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all,
what has happened all over Judea,
beginning in Galilee after the baptism
that John preached,
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Spirit and power.
He went about doing good
and healing all those oppressed by the devil,
for God was with him.”

Gospel : Luke 3:15-16, 21-22
The people were filled with expectation,
and all were asking in their hearts
whether John might be the Christ.
John answered them all, saying,
“I am baptizing you with water,
but one mightier than I is coming.
I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

After all the people had been baptized
and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying,
heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him
in bodily form like a dove.
And a voice came from heaven,
“You are my beloved Son;
with you I am well pleased.”

Austin Christian Fellowship of India (ACFI) is a body of believers in Austin that started in 2002 as a small home based Austin Christian fellowship and progressively grew into a church with many Indian Christian families. Prayer, Children and Missions are core tenants of ACFI.
We have greater Austin Area and Indian Regional language fellowships in the form of bible studies (Austin Telugu Christian Bible Study, Austin Tamil Christian Bible Study, Austin Hindi Christian Bible Study).
We have a curriculum based children ministry (Indian christian Sunday school) from toddlers to High school.
