The History Of Treaties For Black Native Tribes. Many people are unaware that the 1866 Indian treaties played a significant role in shaping the lives of black Americans during the Reconstruction era. These treaties were meant to establish peace between the United States government and various American Indian tribes, but they also contained provisions that granted citizenship to Indigenous Black Americans who had been enslaved.

Through archival footage and interviews with historians, we'll explore how the 1866 Indian treaties paved the way for black Americans to gain legal rights and protections that had previously been denied to them. We'll also delve into the challenges and discrimination that black Americans continued to face even after the treaties were signed.
