We can see from the scriptures that God is interested in communication. God determined that we needed to communicate in order for our relationships to thrive. According to a recent survey, 70% of marriages fail due to poor communication. This indicates that communication is a vital component of a happy marriage.

Our Senior Pastor defined communication as talking, listening, comprehending, and responding. The fundamental components of effective communication are talking, listening, understanding, and responding.

1. 1. TALKING
Communication is talking, and it means talking and not remaining silent: Every relationship that people do not talk will die. If you must speak, speak clearly. Please don't leave the person to figure it out on their own. Exaggerate or generalize at your peril. Avoid using "you" all the time. People become defensive when you use "you." Because we are sweethearts, our words must be gentle, kind, and considerate. Consider the emotions of the person you're speaking with. Our goal is for the person to be edified at the end of the day.
2. LISTENING
There is a reason why God gave us two ears and one mouth. -James 1:19. We must be quick to listen. We do not listen to talk back or answer immediately but to understand. When one person is talking, the duty of the other is to listen with an attentive heart. Listen from their point of view. Always credit their actions with good intentions.
3. UNDERSTANDING
When one person speaks, the other person is expected to understand. If something is unclear, it should be clarified. Listen in order to comprehend and validate the individual. Understanding bridges the chasm.
4. RESPONDING
A simple "I'm sorry" can suffice. Sorry is a strong word. Any truth you tell that reduces people may be true, but it is poorly packaged. Do noy respond with "I have heard you," respond appropriately? Do not use the silent treatment. Don't make room for the devil.

CHRISTIAN CHARACTER PART 13 - GOODNESS

Christian Character basically means the features, behaviors, mannerism, attitude and conducts that makes a Christian stand out as being like Jesus Christ. As part of our series on Christian character Pastor Wilson Akuboh brings a new insight on Goodness as one of the Christian Characters to imbibe.

Good work must be our way of life, just like our Lord Jesus Christ set the example from the beginning.

What is Goodness
It is the quality or state of being good. The Greek word translated “goodness” agathosune, is defined as “uprightness of heart and life”. Goodness means moral integrity and benevolent deed towards others. It means a moral and spiritual excellence manifested in active kindness It means doing good for others because your heart is good. Goodness is kindness from a heart with a good motive. If kindness is what you do, goodness is who we are. Goodness is moral and active kindness.

From creation, God demonstrated His goodness: His patience is very good, His forgiveness is good, His accessibility is very good. If we ever thought of an example of a living flesh and blood who did goodness, think about Jesus Christ.

Jesus was a mobile goodness; He was a perfect demonstration of goodness Luke 4:18-19

Luke 10:30-37 Compassion comes from a good heart. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

There are so many good men in the Bible, Joseph, the husband of Mary was a good man, King Hezekiah was a good King, Queen Esther, etc. Let’s talk about the good Samaritan, lots of people passed including Men of God, but the good Samaritan was the only one that stopped and helped. Its not about titles. It is about a good heart to to do good.

Visit people and change their situations, when they have needs just meet it. Be good to your Family, your wife, children, house helps, staff and every one you meet.

Goodness is a social capital God has given to you to invest in people. Be a good Husband to your Wife. Cover her weaknesses and celebrate her strength. Show you care by giving her the money to do her hair and make it better. Be kind, good and generous to your family members. Goodness must start from home. Be a good wife, be that virtuous woman to your Husband.

Care about your workers. Be a good boss. Be a good worker anywhere you serve. Be punctual at work and stay till the closing time and close at the right time. Be a good neighbor. Be a good Citizen, don’t bypass PHCN Meter or cheat the system. God expects goodness to proceed out of every Christian across all levels.

Healthy Tips For Expressing Goodness:

1. Follow your thinking with good actions immediately. Start from your home with your Family members. Don’t be good outside and at home you are not good. Do good to everyone. When the thought comes, write it down so you don’t forget. Do not discriminate or label people.

2. Avoid distractions. As we do good, lets not focus on the rewards. Let us be good neighbours.

3. Help people pay Hospital bills, food and needs when you notice they are in need. God is looking for good men everywhere. Let us be good

As we continue with our Christian Character series today, we are looking at the character of LOVE. Christian character distinguishes a true Christian. Anyone that exhibits these characters and bear them as fruits will impact the world for God
Love is our brand, we exist to love and worship God, to demonstrate His transforming love to the saved and unsaved man, in order to make him an agent of that love. God’s spirit is in you so you can bear the fruit of love.
Some Definitions of LOVE:
- Love is an intense feeling of deep affection.
- Love is great interest and pleasure in somebody.
- Love is an attachment and devotion to a person.
These definitions of love are correct but not complete. Love is one of the fruits of the spirit, this is AGAPE love.
Four Types of Love:
- Eros – erotic love
- Philia – Love for brothers and friends
- Storge - Love of a Parent
- Agape – Unconditional, self-sacrificing.
Agape Love was activated when God gave Himself through Christ for us. It is the steady intention of a will to do someone else good sacrificially with no selfish intention. Agape Love is self-sacrificing commitment in seeking the highest good of the one you love. This love is only sourced from God. It can only be exhibited by those who have the spirit of God. God will not call us to do what He has not empowered us to do. You are empowered to love like God
