X, formerly Twitter, has been banned in Brazil after failing to meet a deadline set by a Supreme Court judge to name a new legal representative in the country.

Alexandre de Moraes ordered the "immediate and complete suspension" of the platform until it complies with all court orders and pays existing fines.

"Free speech is the bedrock of democracy and an unelected pseudo-judge in Brazil is destroying it for political purposes,” said Elon Musk, X owner.

The row began in April, with the judge ordering the suspension of dozens of X accounts for allegedly spreading disinformation.

A former deputy chief of staff to New York Governor Kathy Hochul has been charged with acting as an agent of the Chinese government.

Linda Sun has been accused of acting as an agent for Beijing in return for millions of dollars, special home deliveries of salted duck and other perks.

Prosecutors said she and Christopher Hu, her husband and co-defendant, used their ill-gotten gains to purchase real estate and luxury vehicles.

The couple pleaded not guilty to the charges against them in a Brooklyn federal court on Tuesday.

Historians studying the Netherlands’ history sometimes refer to the 17th century as the “Dutch Golden Age.” The term refers to an era of unprecedented wealth in the Dutch Republic, when artists such as Rembrandt van Rijn and Johannes Vermeer painted masterpieces and intellectual life flourished in cities like Amsterdam and Delft.
But this glittery phrase obscures a dark truth: Many of the republic’s wealthiest residents made their fortunes through the enslavement, sale, and exploitation of African people.

However, unlike the Portuguese, the Spanish, Britain, the French, and the USA whose involvement in the barbaric act of the slave trade is well-known, the Dutch hope to bury this truth and continue to deny. Just like the Argentines wiping out their black population and keeping the records off history, the Dutch want the world to forget they ever played a part.

Infact, Dutch hagiographers busy themselves by blaming the victims of slavery, claiming that African chiefs sold their people to God-fearing traders from Europe, in a bid to make slavery seem like a fair deal.
While the small country has done a great deal of hiding its dark past, this video is going to reveal all the dirty secrets, and brutality of Dutch slavery that once wiped out African civilizations, tore families apart, and treated human life like cargo to be bought and sold. Air travel is an extremely popular and convenient way to see the globe, with thousands of people catching planes every single day to the different corners, eager to get away from their lives for a bit or to see old friends, or maybe even to make the business deal of a lifetime! The trouble is, though, that catching a flight can sometimes lead to your name in a newspaper, and not in a fun way, leaving you wondering if all those people catching a boat have got the right idea. Below is a list of some of the strangest cases of entire airplanes going missing without a trace. Watch till the end and let us know your theories on these cases in the comments.

Number 10: The disappearance of flight 2723.
On April 26th, 1966 a passenger plane carrying 28 passengers and 5 crew, en route from Baku-Bina international airport in Azerbaijan to the Makhachlkala airport in Russia, (a flight of just about 330 miles), radioed in to their control tower just twelve minutes after take-off, reporting issues with their engines. The crew hypothesized that it may be a problem with the spark plugs in the engines and made the decision to return to Baku-Bina airport rather than risk the remainder of the journey. But…the flight would never make it back.
While on the return to the airport the crew radioed a final time to their control tower, reporting that the engines had begun to vibrate and cool down, and that they had dropped altitude to just 200 meters above sea level. In the broadcast, the pilot had decided that he would need to ditch the plane, pilot talk that basically meant that they would need to have a crash landing.
The plane and its occupants were never to be seen or heard from again, despite searches over both land and sea for the next several days. To this day, the whereabouts of the plane and its now ghostly passengers and crew have yet to be discovered.
Number 9: The Boeing 727 that vanished
A Boeing is already a pretty big plane. With a length of 153 feet and a wingspan of 108 feet, it’s hard to believe that something of its size can disappear without a trace, yet, back in 2003 a Boeing 727 with an already complicated past, managed to do just that. This particular 727 had been used briefly to transport fuel to diamond mines in Angola before being grounded for lack of correct documentation. There, the aircraft had been left to deteriorate for upwards of a year until American Entrepreneur Maury Joseph found a new buyer for the planes’ engines. Ben Padilla was the man chosen for the job of restoring the aircraft and was tasked with getting the 727 back into sky worthy shape.
Within a month, the plane was restored to its former glory and, although Padilla had a private pilot’s license, he was not capable of flying something the size of the 727, and so hired a pilot and co-pilot to get the plane over to Johannesburg in South Africa. Late in the afternoon on the 25th of May 2003 Padilla and his hired crew boarded the aircraft in order to test run the 3 engines when suddenly, and without contacting the control tower for clearance, the huge Boeing 727 began to move towards the runway, moving erratically over the tarmac. It then joined the runway and, again, without any communication to the control tower and with all external lights turned off, it rolled down the runway and took off, banking to the south east over the Atlantic Ocean, it would never be seen again.
Several speculations have arisen over the possible cause of the disappearance, chief among these was that the current owner, Maury Joseph had staged the whole thing for an insurance pay-out, but no claim was ever filed. Being just 2 years after the September 11 attacks and the fact that the plane required 3 crew members to pilot, foul play was also suspected but no foul play groups came forward admitting to the theft. The true nature of what happened to the 727 may never be discovered, but it is still a good one to think on.
Number 8: Varig Flight 967.
Flight 967 was a Boeing 707 cargo plane that departed from Narita International Airport in Japan on January 30th, 1979.
It was on route to Rio de Janiero International airport with a connecting flight in Los Angeles when it disappeared off the radar.
Approximately 30 minutes after departing Narita airport and 120 miles into the journey the control towers lost contact with the plane. It would never be seen or heard from again. On board the flight were 6 crew members including highly experienced pilot, captain Gilberto Araujo da Silva, a pilot who had upward of 23,000 hours logged and who had flown flight 820 in 1973. That flight crash landed just outside Paris, resulting in 123 deaths and only 11 survivors, including the captain, of course.

Because of the Chinese diaspora and historical power of the country, Chinese cuisine has influenced many other cuisines in Asia and beyond, with modifications made to cater to local palates. Chinese food staples such as rice, soy sauce, noodles, tea, chili oil, and tofu, and utensils such as chopsticks and the wok, can now be found worldwide.

The Tradition of Father’s Day is the topic for today. It’s two weeks away for those of us here in the US.

But first, let me take a minute to say welcome to every new listener and welcome back to the veteran homestead-loving regulars who stop by to listen to the FarmCast every week. I appreciate you all so much. I’m so excited to share with you what’s going on at the farm this week. And a fantastic recipe for grilling on Father’s Day.

Today’s Show Homestead Life Updates The Tradition of Father’s Day Gourmet Chevon Burgers Homestead Life Updates Our homestead life is humming along. Yes, I’m still way behind on taming the weeds in the garden, the beans still need to be planted. And to top it off, harvesting is beginning. I’ve already picked green peas for shelling and snow peas. I froze four packages and had plenty left over for several meals. Now the shelling peas need to be picked again. This time there will be lots and lots and lots of them. I may freeze some and can some. We’ll see. Freezer space is at a premium right now. The potatoes are ready to be dug up and dried and I have plenty of spring onions available to add fresh to any dish.

Happy and good lamb news. We had a late arrival a few days ago. That brings our total to 10 lambs this year and zero loses. We’ve never had that kind of success rate. Mother nature usually has her way with at least one or two. We have been truly blessed this year.

The herd shares are going gangbusters. Only a couple of slots left there. And so many are interested in the cheese. During the summer we offer milk, yogurt, butter and cream, while winter will provide lots of cheese and butter. My schedule may change in that area due to the requests of the herd share owners. Many want the cheese now in lieu of the milk. Next month their wishes will become reality.

The quail are growing like crazy. Scott devised a way to alter their feeding trays so they don’t waste so much. That’s working out fine. The roosters are beginning to crow. It’s not a like a chicken at all. When I go and visit them and care for them, they are all standing in a row in front of the door looking out. They are so cute and funny.

Scott is moving along with the creamery walls. And that’s about it for the homestead updates. Let’s get to the topic of the day.

The Tradition of Father’s Day Last month we looked at the tradition of Mother’s Day. Today we look at the tradition of Father’s Day. And more importantly, why children need fathers (or at the very least father-figures) in their lives. Today retailers and marketers, in an effort to make a quick buck, have completely changed the original meaning of Father’s Day. A holiday that was created to honor dad and enumerate his special qualities is now used as a marketing tool. Such is the way of life in our very affluent country.

Let’s take a look at the roots and history of Father’s Day.

The Religious Roots and Tradition A customary day for the celebration of fatherhood in Catholic Europe is known to date back to at least the Middle Ages, and it is observed on March 19, as the feast day of Saint Joseph, who is referred to as the fatherly Nutritor Domini ("Nourisher of the Lord") in Catholicism and "the putative father of Jesus" in southern European traditions. This celebration was brought to the Americas by the Spanish and Portuguese, and in many countries Father's Day is still celebrated on March 19. The Catholic Church actively supported the custom of a celebration of fatherhood on St. Joseph's day from either the last years of the 14th century or from the early 15th century.

The History of Father’s Day in the United States Father's Day was not celebrated in the US, outside Catholic traditions, until the 20th century. As a civic celebration in the US, it was inaugurated in the early 20th century to complement Mother's Day by celebrating fathers and male parenting.

There are two stories of when the first Father’s Day was celebrated in the United States. According to some accounts, the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Washington state on June 19, 1910. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd came up with the idea of honoring and celebrating her father while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon at church in 1909. She felt as though mothers were getting all the acclaim while fathers were equally deserving of a day of praise (Likely she would be displeased that Mother’s Day still gets the lion’s share of attention).

Sonora’s dad was quite a man. William Smart, a veteran of the Civil War, was left a widower when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. He went on to raise the six children by himself on their small farm in Washington. To show her appreciation for all the hard work and love William gave to her and her siblings, Sonora thought there should be a day to pay homage to him and other dads like him. In other areas, slavery (or unfree labour) continues through practices such as debt bondage, the most widespread form of slavery today, serfdom, domestic servants kept in captivity, certain adoptions in which children are forced to work as slaves, child soldiers, and forced marriage.
