*EXPOSITION*
It is pertinent to note on this World Health Day that, maintaining good health is not just an option; it is a necessity. Just as God sustained Elijah during the drought (1 Kgs. 17:2-9), He desires to nourish and strengthen us for the tasks ahead. Our physical well-being directly impacts our effectiveness in all aspects of life. God promises to bless our bread and water and to remove sickness from our midst (Exo. 23:25). Yet, this requires our cooperation through healthy living practices, because neglecting our health not only hinders our services but dishonours God.
Divine health is both a promise and responsibility. God promises protection when we abide in Him (Psa. 91: 9-10). As stewards of our bodies, we must nurture physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Spiritual nourishment in prayer, meditating on God's Word and fellowship fortifies us against spiritual and physical ailments, making us healthy and enabling us to fulfil divine purposes as we glorify Him in every aspect of life.
