Retired US Army officer and urban-warfare researcher John Spencer rates 11 urban-warfare scenes in movies and TV shows for realism.
Spencer breaks down the accuracy of ambushes and battles in open areas in "Black Hawk Down" (2001), with Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, and Tom Sizemore; "Fast Five" (2011), with Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, and Paul Walker; "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi" (2016), starring John Krasinski; and "Mosul" (2019).
He looks at fighting in buildings and close-quarters combat in "Extraction" (2020), starring Chris Hemsworth; "American Sniper" (2014), starring Bradley Cooper; and "The Raid: Redemption" (2011), starring Iko Uwais.
Spencer addresses the effects of urban warfare on civilians and cities in "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), with Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson. He also looks at urban operations during World War II in "Fury" (2014), with Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf; and "Enemy at the Gates"(2001), with Jude Law and Ed Harris.
Spencer is a US Army combat veteran and has been on two combat deployments to Iraq. He is the chair of urban-warfare studies at the Modern War Institute at West Point and the author of "Understanding Urban Warfare," "Connected Soldiers," and "The Mini-Manual for the Urban Defender." Spencer is also the host of the podcast "Urban Warfare Project."

Season 2 Marathon So Expensive Food | Insider Business
According to the United States Air Force Academy, Mitchell Hall is one of the world's largest and most advanced dining facilities, capable of feeding 4,000 cadets in under 30 minutes and preparing 10,000 meals each day. Three days a week, cadets muster outside of the facility in formation and march in to eat a family-style lunch. Insider spent three days with members of Mitchell Hall's staff, witnessing the large-scale coordination required to plan and prepare meals that sustain the cadet wing each day.

Farms in the Hudson Valley, New York State, can sell that gallon for over $200, almost 29 times more than popular imitation syrup. Despite the price, Grade A maple syrup is incredibly sought-after. So much so that C$18 million worth of it was stolen in one of the largest heists in Canadian history.

India exports over $1.3 billion worth of handmade carpets annually. Obeetee, the country’s largest carpet maker, makes hundreds of thousands of them per year. And nearly all of its products go to America. Its clients include big retailers like Williams-Sonoma, West Elm, and Pottery Barn. Obeetee’s hand-knotted carpets can take up to a year to make, and can cost over $12,000. One small mistake anywhere in the process can lead to the brand rejecting a work. We visited its factory in Uttar Pradesh to see what it takes to produce 350,000 carpets a year, and the area became known as India's "carpet belt."

Elbroch is the director of the puma program at Panthera and has been studying mountain lions — also called pumas and cougars — for 20 years. He has written and coauthored 10 books on natural history, including "The Cougar Conundrum."

Fleur de sel is a rare, unrefined salt made in western France by evaporating seawater slowly in 2-centimeter-deep ponds. Fleur de sel is a salt that dissolves slowly, so its taste lingers in the mouth. But just about every step of the process to get this salt is difficult. Before harvesting, the wind has to be perfect. And during the harvest, salt producers need to be ready to collect the precious salt at any moment, or they won't make a profit. Even if they seize the right moment, the salt has to dry for an entire year before it can be sold. In France it costs 230 times the price of table salt, and can sell for $420 per kilogram in the US. So, is it always worth it to produce fleur de sel? And why is it so expensive?

How The World’s Biggest Batches Of Food Are Made | Big Batches Season 2 Marathon | Insider Food
Jimmy Tsui is a former member of Tung On in New York City's Chinatown and of the Sun Yee On triad in Hong Kong.
In 1985 in New York, he was arrested and charged with robbery and homicide, with a $1.5 million-dollar bail. The case was later dismissed. This led to his transition into Sun Yee On, where he became a "426 general" in 1988.
He traveled back and forth between Hong Kong and New York City and was involved in karaoke bars, gambling houses, and various scams. In 1992, he was shot five times while sitting in his car. This ended his involvement in mob life. Around this time, the influence of the Chinese mafia in New York was declining, and Tsui's network dissolved.
Tsui speaks with Insider about how the triads make money, such as extortion and protection rackets. He discusses the initiation ceremonies and rules of membership as well as the ties to the movie business. He also covers the triads' global expansion.
After leaving the triads, Tsui got involved with Chinatown Gang Stories, a YouTube channel organized by Mike Moy, a former gang member, and New York City Police Department officer.

Dyer served in the United States Marine Corps. He says he robbed over 100 banks across California between 1999 and 2001. He eventually turned himself in and served nine years in prison after pleading guilty to six robberies. He now works as a life coach and motivational speaker, working with victims of violent crime and helping newly released prisoners reintegrate into society.
Correction: At 01:06 the expert said that armored car truck guards are trained to shoot back in the event of an attack. The protocol actually depends on the laws of each state, and the armored car company.

She explains how cruise ships address health issues and passenger safety on board in "The Simpsons" S23E19 (2012), the boat jail scene in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" S11E9 and E10 (2016), and the cruise ship holiday nightmare in "Triangle of Sadness" (2022), with Woody Harrelson. Williams also looks at the plausibility of cruise ship systems being corrupted in "Deep Rising" (1998), and the shipwreck scene in "Speed 2: Cruise Control" (1997), with Willem Dafoe and Sandra Bullock. She compares fictional depictions to real-life cruise disasters, such as the Diamond Princess cruise ship, and shares tips for travelers.
Williams has been in the maritime industry for over 30 years, with her experience spanning from passenger vessels to the fishing industry. She has been a cruise ship captain for about five years, and she is the first Canadian woman to captain a major cruise ship brand, Virgin Voyages.

Bryan Sobolewski was a jewel thief and committed a string of armed robberies and diamond heists around New England in the early '90s.
Sobolewski speaks with Insider about the reconnaissance and casing aspects of gem theft and how he would approach stores. He recounts how his family broke into safes, smashed cabinets, and stole from traveling salesmen. He talks about scams within the diamond industry and how he believes jewelry stores are complicit in diamond heists. He covers the scarcity and value of diamonds and uncut gems, and he describes how thieves value sets and engravings.
Since leaving prison, Sobolewski gained a bachelor's degree in psychology. He has spoken in schools and substance-abuse-counseling groups. He now is a personal trainer and lives in Texas. He is the author of "Family Jewels," and in 2021, he started "Family Jewels Podcast," which details his life story.

Robert Mazur is a former government agent who investigated drug-money laundering for the US Drug Enforcement Administration, the Internal Revenue Service intelligence division, and the Customs Service. While deep undercover in hot spots such as Florida, Colombia, and Panama, Mazur successfully infiltrated criminal rings and cartels, including Pablo Escobar's, by posing as a wealthy, mob-connected businessman. He helped manage the illicit fortunes of the Medellín and Cali cartels while gathering evidence that would lead to some of the largest money-laundering prosecutions in history.
He speaks to Insider about how the cartels layer their assets, and move money via “smurfs”. He also covers the use of legitimate businesses, such as jewellery chains and mortgage brokerage companies.

Jeff Turner counterfeited over $1 million in US currency. He forged the 1996-series $100 bill and later the 2013 "blue note." He was indicted on federal conspiracy charges in 2019 and cooperated with the Secret Service, eventually serving 10 months in prison. According to Turner, the Secret Service said the bills he was manufacturing were the highest quality they'd seen in over 25 years.
Turner speaks to Insider about the materials and processes required to make fake money. He talks through how to spot a fake bank note.
