Breeding Millions of Modern Pigs - Automatic Pig Farm Management System

Pigs are raised in a hygienic and safe barn environment to ensure a healthy living environment for pigs and reduce the risk of diseases. A healthy growing environment will contribute to increasing the amount of pork production that the farm can supply annually to the market.

When sows reach the stage of calving, they will be moved to another breeding area to ensure reproductive safety for sows and piglets. The farrowing area is designed separately, with conditions to ensure safety and hygiene for the mother and piglets during farrowing and rearing.

It is very important to keep piglets with sows in the early stages to ensure healthy growth and strengthen the resistance of piglets. In the early stages, piglets need to be provided with breast milk to ensure their digestive and immune systems develop well. Being with the mother pig also helps the piglets learn and develop natural behaviors, helping them better adapt to their environment and increasing their survival.

Plant breeding is a technique through which genetic traits of a plant are changed. Some desirable traits are incorporated to produce a new variety. This technique is mainly used to improve the quality of food crop, to produce high yielding crop varieties and also provide resistance to diseases and pests.

In 20 minutes I share everything I wish I knew before I started designing my permaculture food forest.

This video covers strategies for capturing and storing water, improving and feeding your soil, creating a basemap for capturing your observations, swales, contours, guilds and layering your food forest and working with succession as well as some syntropic agroforestry techniques that you can use in your backyard.

A permaculture food forest requires upfront work, but the long-term rewards are huge! That is why I believe it’s the easiest way to grow food. No annual tilling, no toiling under the hot sun year after year, no need to purchase inputs once your forest is established. Once you set up a successful system, it will thrive and offer abundance for generations to come.

Instead of neat rows of monoculture, forest gardens combine fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines and perennial vegetables together in one seemingly wild setting. This type of agroforestry mimics natural ecosystems and uses the space available in a sustainable way. UK-based Martin Crawford is one of the pioneers of forest gardening. Starting out with a flat field in 1994, his land has been transformed into a woodland and serves as an educational resource for others interested in forest gardening. This short film by Thomas Regnault focuses on Crawford's forest garden, which is abundant, diverse, edible, and might be one answer to the future of food systems.

IILM ENGINEERING | Application of tissue culture for crop improvement in agriculture, horticulture and forestry - Dr. Nitin Garg

here i have discussed about careers in biology on 9th level. i.e. animal husbandry, horticulture, forestry and farming.

Animal husbandry is the branch of science deals with the practice of breeding, farming and care of farm animals such as cattle, dogs, sheep and horses by humans for advantages. Animal husbandry refers to livestock raising and selective breeding. It is a branch of agriculture.

Major changes took place in the Columbian exchange when Old World livestock were brought to the New World, and then in the British Agricultural Revolution of the 18th century, when livestock breeds like the Dishley Longhorn cattle and Lincoln Longwool sheep were rapidly improved by agriculturalists such as Robert Bakewell to yield more meat, milk, and wool. A wide range of other species such as horse, water buffalo, llama, rabbit and guinea pig are used as livestock in some parts of the world. Insect farming, as well as aquaculture of fish, molluscs, and crustaceans, is widespread. Modern animal husbandry relies on production systems adapted to the type of land available. Subsistence farming is being superseded by intensive animal farming in the more developed parts of the world, where for example beef cattle are kept in high density feedlots, and thousands of chickens may be raised in broiler houses or batteries. On poorer soil such as in uplands, animals are often kept more extensively, and may be allowed to roam widely, foraging for themselves.

Most livestock are herbivores, except for pigs and chickens which are omnivores. Ruminants like cattle and sheep are adapted to feed on grass; they can forage outdoors, or may be fed entirely or in part on rations richer in energy and protein, such as pelleted cereals. Pigs and poultry cannot digest the cellulose in forage, and require other high-protein foods.

Horticulture is the science and art of the development, sustainable production, marketing and use of high-value, intensively cultivated food and ornamental plants. Horticultural crops are diverse, including: Annual and perennial species, Fruits and vegetables, Decorative indoor plants

Horticulture is subdivision of agriculture which deals with gardening of plants. Agriculture deals with cultivation of crops and also animal farming whereas Horticulture deals with cultivation only.

A Horticulturist is responsible for increasing yield, improving vigor, size, and taste of plants. They also coordinate research programs for selective crops. Horticulturists must have extensive knowledge about trees, flowers, vegetables, nuts, bushes, and fruits.

Forestry is the science and craft of creating, managing, playing, using, conserving and repairing forests, woodlands, and associated resources for human and environmental benefits. Forestry is practiced in plantations and natural stands. ... Natural water quality management. Recreation

They purify the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, prevent erosion, and act as an important buffer against climate change. Forests offer a home to much of the world's diverse array of plants and animals and provide essential natural resources from timber and food to medicinal plants.

Agriculture started thousands of years ago, but no one knows for sure how old it is.[1] The development of farming gave rise to the Neolithic Revolution whereby people gave up nomadic hunting and became settlers in what became cities.

Agriculture and domestication probably started in the Fertile Crescent (the Nile Valley, The Levant and Mesopotamia).[2] The area called Fertile Crescent is now in the countries of Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, and Egypt. Wheat and barley are some of the first crops people grew. People probably started agriculture slowly by planting a few crops, but still gathered many foods from the wild. People may have started farming because the weather and soil began to change. Farming can feed many more people than hunter-gatherers can feed on the same amount of land.

Arable Farming. Arable farming involves growing of crops only in warm climate. ...

Pastoral Farming. ...

Mixed Farming. ...

Subsistence Farming. ...

Commercial Farming. ...

Extensive and Intensive Farming. ...

Nomadic Farming. ...

Sedentary Farming.

In this video, we visit James from@TapoNothFarm in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Tap o' Noth is an incredible 8-acre agroforestry permaculture small farm that integrates crops and animals alongside perennial planting. By using inspiration from how this land would be if left fully to Nature, James and his partner Rosa are using that to their advantage to create a place that not only produces food and fuel, but also makes Nature a core part of their whole operation.

From watching this video you will learn exactly what Agroforestry is, how it benefits farmers, plenty of examples of types of Agroforestry in action and what is needed to help make this amazing method more common in our food system. Agroforestry is a core element of Regenerative Agriculture.

Drip irrigation working model for school

Drip irrigation or trickle irrigation is a type of micro-irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either from above the soil surface or buried below the surface. The goal is to place water directly into the root zone and minimize evaporation. Drip irrigation systems distribute water through a network of valves, pipes, tubing, and emitters. Depending on how well designed, installed, maintained, and operated it is, a drip irrigation system can be more efficient than other types of irrigation systems, such as surface irrigation or sprinkler irrigation.

John Graham is a specialist in desert farming who has taught hundreds of farmers how to run profitable organic farms. He has 30 years experience creating farms out of arid sand in Mexico's desert region of Baja California, successfully transforming sand into fertile soil to cultivate a large variety of vegetables. He worked for many years as an organic farm inspector and co-founded Baja's organic market that's been running for two decades.

Watch the video about John's 2 friends who he founded the organic market with: https://youtu.be/MFADnpUXxUQ

John's home garden is a highly abundant paradise of fruits and vegetables and although he has been in a wheelchair for 25 years after a road accident, he has constructed a system of ramps and paths all around his property so he can access his incredible garden.

John is currently helping a local co-operative of farmers on a new farm producing organic food for the local market, restaurants and a delivery service. @LeafofLifeWorld met up with John to find out about the techniques he uses to transform desert sand into fertile soil, as well the different methods he uses instead of chemical pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.

How Israel Greened its desert in Becoming a World’s largest produce exporter
How Israel became the most advanced country in Agriculture in the Desert
Israeli area is composed of a desert, Israel began planning while taking this projection as seriously as possible. As a result, Israel is currently regarded as one of the top water and agricultural product providers.

Israel's agriculture has grown astoundingly due to the constant water supply. Israel manages $2 billion worth of agricultural sales each year, with an unexpectedly large portion of profits coming from fruits and vegetables. They created a method known as "Drip Irrigation" that increases agricultural yields while allowing water savings of 6%. This method applies water to the plant's root system drop by drop. Another technique called fertigation, which uses drip irrigation and fertilizers, enhances the drip irrigation process. Israeli automated desert agricultural technology was recently hailed by the American Society for Horticultural Sciences as "one of the most important developments in food production in the last 100 years."

Israel is using a mix of both tech and planning to achieve astounding results in agriculture. Israel's large and growing precision agriculture sector comprises more than 450 companies offering advanced data collection and analysis technologies for more efficient and productive farming. These companies help farmers integrate all their agricultural data from multiple sources, i.e., imaging, weather stations, in-field sensors, etc. Among these companies, a few perform accurate real-time tests of plant tissue, soil, and water in the field, dramatically reducing the standard analysis procedure from 10 days to less than an hour.

High-resolution aerial imaging with computer vision and artificial intelligence is being used to show farmers what's happening in their plots down to the insect and leaf level and analyze that data to provide decision-making support. Another issue that farmers need is a need for exporting logistics and support. Many companies across the country give farmers constantly updated regulatory guidelines on a single dashboard. For instance, if a customer wants to sell in Walmart, the app automatically applies the relevant US regulations to the growing plant. This system also helps farmers manage resources, administrative processes and daily functionality with calendars, checklists, reports, maps, and digital document storage. Farming cooperatives can use the platform to assist and manage member growers.

Along with agriculture, the aquaculture industry is growing an average of 6 percent annually to meet the ever-rising demand for fish and seafood. But, with more than half the fish consumed around the world grown on farms where fish are crowded into tanks and given massive amounts of antibiotics, hormones and pesticides, there's an urgent need for sustainable and healthful solutions for commercial fisheries. So Israeli tech geeks developed a plug‐and‐play all-in-one water treatment system for aquaculture. The system increases fish productivity, has a minimal ecological footprint, enhances water conditions, and significantly grows profitability. If you compare Israel's current and past satellite views, you will see a significant improvement. You can visually see more green belts than barren dunes. Following a roadmap that helped Israel turn its deserts into a farmland oasis is beneficial for Israel and an example for other countries to follow.
