24 April 2022 - At the Crossroads 2022 - In 2016, Andrew Brunson was arrested by the Turkish government on false charges and imprisoned for more than two years. Andrew connects his imprisonment to a prayer he began praying in 2007: "Father God, draw me so close to your heart that you will trust me with the authority to start waves." While Andrew believes his arrest was a satanic attack, he also believes God used it to test him and refine him. Andrew says not hearing God's voice or sensing his presence in prison broke him. Yet the deep-rooted love nurtured over years of pursuing the heart of God sustained Andrew through his dark night of the soul and drew him into an intimacy known only by God's battle-tested saints.

Pastor Andrew Brunson spent more than two years wrongfully imprisoned in Turkey, separated from his family, after more than two decades of Christian ministry in the country.
After relentless advocacy from the ACLJ and diplomatic actions taken by the Trump Administration – including now ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs Mike Pompeo and ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell – Pastor Brunson received his freedom and was able to return home to America.
While we celebrate his freedom, we grapple with the reality that with a new Administration in the White House, it may prove to be more difficult to secure the release of captive or imprisoned Christians. That’s why the work of the ACLJ is needed now more than ever.

Andrew Brunson was sentenced to three years in prison on
ter rorism charges, but was released for time served.
His detention led to a major diplomatic dispute between the US and Turkey and it is hoped that his release will ease US pressure on Turkey's economy.

US pastor Andrew Brunson has left Turkey and will land at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Saturday afternoon, according to the White House. Brunson flew out from Izmir's international airport on late Saturday evening, hours after a local court ordered his release. The court found Brunson guilty but suspended his sentence due to time served. Hasan Abdullah reports.

Pastor Andrew Brunson and his wife Norine served on the mission field for 23 years in Turkey. But they never envisioned the things that would come their way. Andrew was falsely accused of terrorism and became a political pawn, imprisoned for two years before being set free. His faith was tested to the point of questioning if God even existed. Through this religious persecution, Andrew and Norine learned to surrender to God and trust Him in all circumstances. In this broadcast, they emphasize the importance of prayer for the persecuted church.
