Watch this video to see what happened when we tried to complete our journey across the United States by Rail!
Our trip began back in Seattle when we boarded Amtrak’s Empire Builder for 48 hours. We enjoyed some of America’s most breathtaking scenery along the way before arriving in Chicago, but now it’s time to complete our rail journey across the continent to get home to Greensboro, NC.
Today, we’ll leave Chicago for the 24 hour journey to Washington, DC onboard Amtrak’s Cardinal Train. The Cardinal passes through Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and DC. We’ll travel through the very heart of Appalachia and the Valley of Virginia along the way to our nation’s capital.
From there, we’ll spend eight more hours on the Carolinian for our final leg home to Greensboro.
All in, that’s 80 hours or more than three days! Well, at least that was our plan.
Our 24 hours on the Cardinal would be spent in an Amtrak Viewliner II Bedroom, which we’ll explore in depth in this video. We'll even offer an Amtrak food review.
Unfortunately, an Amtrak Delay got in the way of our plans and we had to change them at the last minute. Watch the video to find out what happened on this Amtrak Adventure!

Silver is a regional airline operating ATR-72 Turboprops from Florida, the Caribbean, and the Southeast United States.
I was over-the-moon excited to grab a ticket for this service. I was even the first passenger to ever check-in with Silver Airways!
There’s not a lot of services or features onboard, but we’ll still explore them all.
We’ll even give the experience a JebScore! We modified the Lounge score to better reflect an Economy Experience by focusing on the Ground Experience with things like boarding, communication, etc.

What could be more romantic than a flight on a Boeing 747?! Well, I recently flew Korean Air First Class in a Korean Air 747! The flight was from Seoul (ICN) to Atlanta (ATL) and is Korean Air’s longest flight.
This Korean Air First Class 747 experience was exceptional.
The Korean Air 747 will be one of the final Queens of the Sky to fly because Korean Air is one of only a few airlines to have ordered the 747-8. In this video, we’ll travel from our home in Greensboro, NC all the way to California, but only using regional jets! We’ll mostly focus on the CRJ 200, but the close cousin, the ERJ-145 will make a brief appearance, too.
These regional jets are easy to hate, but we wanted to put them to the ultimate test by crossing the entire country in them. The CRJ-200 is particularly uncomfortable and a lot of airlines are getting rid of them, but United Airlines, through the United Express brand, has more 50 seat regional planes than American and Delta combined, so we’ll be on a lot of United CRJ200 airplanes in this video as we fly across the USA on the most hated plane!
Why do passengers think the CRJ 200 is the worst plane?
For starters, they don’t have plugs or Wi-fi, the Windows are too low, the overhead bins can’t accommodate roll aboard bags, there’s barely any headroom, the lavatories are tiny, there’s no first class or even economy plus, the seats are incredibly small, and if the plane isn’t full, people in the front may have to move to the back to ensure proper weight and balance. In short, CRJ200’s and ERJ145’s are pretty easy to hate.

In this video, you’ll see Amtrak’s NEW Viewliner II Bedroom. This is the first new carriage for Amtrak in more than 25 years and you’ll see all of its highlights. Including the Viewliner II Roomette, Viewliner II Accessible Bedroom, and – of course – the Viewliner II Bedroom!

In this video, you’ll see United Airlines’ First Class Hawaii service on a nine hour flight from Honolulu to the East Coast of the United States.
At nearly 5,000 miles, this United Airlines 767-400 flight is nearly as long as a flight from Washington to Moscow. It crosses six time zones and we’ll fly at an altitude of 35,000 feet.
You’ll see United Airlines’ lounge in Honolulu as well as the seat, food, and service available to First Class passengers on this long-haul domestic route. You’ll even see the Inflight Entertainment system on a United Airlines Boeing 767-400.
Perhaps best of all, you’ll get a stunning view of Diamondhead as we depart Oahu and some pretty spectacular views of the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

Watch this video to explore THREE of the world’s MOST EXTREME Airports! The best part, they’re all a ten minute flight apart from each other.
St Maarten will be our base of operations for this Caribbean Adventure. We’ll first explore the world famous Maho Beach where it’s easy to watch jumbo jets land at the nearby St. Maarten Princess Juliana International Airport.
After that, we’ll make the unforgettable 10-minute flight to St. Baarths and experience the unbelievable approach into that island’s airport. It requires specially trained pilots to fly over a hill – and oncoming traffic - before essentially diving toward the airport below. It is hair-raising and anxiety inducing, not for the faint of heart!
We’ll see more of the island before flying to Saba, home to the world’s shortest commercial runway. The approach into that airport and landing is as close to landing on an aircraft carrier as I’ve ever felt, but it was the departure that was the most nail-biting of all!
This Caribbean Aviation Adventure is one we’d recommend to just about everyone. Hope you enjoy!

This journey, which was part of our #WildernessToWaikiki adventure involved a First Class trip between the largest cities in the two newest states: Anchorage in Alaska and Honolulu in Hawaii. The flight from Alaska to Hawaii takes six hours, crosses through two time zones, and covers nearly 2,800 miles.

You’ll join us as we explore two incredible places in this one-of-a-kind place as part of our #NewlywedWorldTour. Usually, my videos focus only on what happens on flights, but Egypt at ground-level was simply too amazing not to share with you!
We’ll start in Egypt’s south, in the city of Aswan where we’ll visit the incredible Philae Temple and sail the Nile by Felucca.
From there, we’ll hop onboard an Egyptair A220 up to the capital city of Cairo. You’ll see that city’s famous traffic and walk around the iconic Pyramids and Sphinx.
I’ll share a few tips about traveling to Egypt as well as some of my thoughts about what it’s like to visit here for the first time.
It’s easy to see why the name “Egypt” has sparked awe for generations. Incomparable ancient wonders along the World’s Most Legendary River. And, the country’s flag carrier, Egyptair, allows you to see more of it all in less time than ever.
Egyptair’s domestic service is fairly basic, but they don’t have to offer much on these relatively short flights. In this video, you’ll get a sense of what to expect from them on these flights.

Watch this video in order to experience the Amtrak Empire Builder train as it crosses some of the most dramatic land in the United States, passing through Washington State, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois
Thanks to a delay, we saw more than most passengers would expect, including some of the most stunning scenery we’ve ever encountered in Northern Idaho.
The entire Amtrak Empire Builder route is scheduled to take 46 hours, but our trip ended up taking a lot longer. We were supposed to leave Seattle at 4:55 in the afternoon, but didn’t get going until nearly 8:00 at night.
The Amtrak Empire Builder is certainly one of Amtrak’s most iconic routes, passing through the very heart of Glacier National Park. My first experience onboard an Amtrak overnight sleeper train was this route, but Westbound back in 2020. It felt incredible to be back onboard!
In this video, you’ll see the unmatched scenery and spectacular sights along the route, get a tour of Amtrak’s Bedroom, learn the history of this route, and we’ll even answer some of the most frequently asked questions we get asked about Amtrak Train Travel.
We’ll also showcase Amtrak’s Traditional Dining, which has (finally) returned to their long-haul western routes like the Empire Builder!
The Amtrak Empire Builder route traces its heritage back to 1929 when it was the flagship route of the vaunted “Great Northern Railway.” In the early part of the 20th century, railroad companies were the airlines of their time. Perhaps none were as storied as the Great Northern Railway.
The Amtrak Empire Builder is the latest incarnation of a route The Great Northern Railway operated. This is the northernmost transcontinental railway in the country and was also the only privately funded transcontinental railroad in the nation’s history. Unlike every other one, it was built without any federal funding.
Today, Amtrak is the only passenger operator the Empire Builder route and, as with nearly all of Amtrak’s operations, we competed with freight traffic, which always takes priority because the freight lines own the track on this route. Amtrak is just borrowing it for the Empire Builder, which means delays are very possible. But, it turns out, our delay was the best thing that could have happened on this journey…

Amtrak’s TEXAS EAGLE will test your endurance. It’s Amtrak’s longest train trip over four days, three nights, and seven states!
In this video, you’ll see the highlights of this 2,728 mile (4,390 km) journey from Chicago to Los Angeles through Texas.
On Day One, we’ll stop in St. Louis, Missouri. On Day two and three, in Texas, we’ll check out Texarkana, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, and El Paso in Texas. We’ll see the hidden corners of New Mexico and highlights of Arizona before slipping into Los Angeles, California on the fourth and final day!

The North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC invited me to come and experience their "At The Throttle" session. This Drive a train experience is available to the public and I'll show you how you can participate in this incredible program that allows visitors to operate one of the museum's locomotives.
The North Carolina Transportation Museum, located in Spencer, NC - about an hour north of Charlotte - just happens to be about 45 minutes from my home in Greensboro, NC!
This facility began life as the main facility servicing and overhauling steam locomotives and other equipment for the Southern Railway, which operated lines between Atlanta and Washington, DC.
Before driving this train, we'll explore the NC Train Museum in Spencer, NC and even go inside the historic Spencer NC Roundhouse, the largest one still in use here in North America!
I was invited to operate their 6133 Locomotive from Southern Railway. It was originally built in 1950 and I learned quickly just how complicated operating this locomotive really was!
This is a lot more than just a historic train ride! We'll actually drive a historic train!

Despite our hours of research, we still made mistakes and had to make a “last minute” upgrade to our fare because of it. We also chose to share a bite onboard, but that also didn’t go according to plan.

Watch this video before booking Via Rail’s “The Canadian” train from Toronto to Vancouver! On our journey through vast forests, over endless prairies, and up breathtaking mountain passes, we’ll cover nearly 3,000 miles over almost 100 hours!
The Canadian should be at the top of your travel bucket list. In this video, we’ll leave Toronto on Wednesday morning at 9:55 and arrive in Vancouver on Sunday morning. Along the way, we’ll travel in a First Class train car with every amenity you can imagine (and some First Class Luxuries to surprise you!).
Onboard the Prestige Class experience, we’ll have our own dedicated Concierge Team to take care of our every need, a HUGE bed with a massively comfortable mattress, and delicious food.
