Viktor Hovland will look to win his third consecutive World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba this weekend as the PGA TOUR heads to Mexico for the first time this season. At last year’s event, the Norwegian carded a very impressive 9-under 62 in the third round to pull clear of the field, leading to a four-shot victory. Scottie Scheffler returns to action this weekend, as does compatriot Collin Morikawa, who will be making his debut appearance at the event. Tony Finau will be making his much-anticipated season debut, after two victories in consecutive weeks at the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic in July saw him finish the season strongly inside the top 10 of the FedExCup Standings. Fresh off his win at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship last week, Seamus Power will once again be teeing it up, as will Argentine Emiliano Grillo, who has finished inside the top 10 on three occasions at El Camaleón Golf Course at Mayakoba in the past five years.

In the 2018 Dell Technologies Championship, Bryson DeChambeau grabbed his third win of the season, his second win in a row and remained in first place in the FedExCup standings with rounds of 70-68-63-67 to finish at 16-under-par and two shots clear of the field at TPC Boston.

The Dell Technologies Championship takes place in Norton, MA. The 2018 tournament sees Tiger Woods and defending champion Justin Thomas Return to TPC Boston. In 2017, he won by three strokes over his good friend Jordan Spieth.

Virginia Tech moved to 4-1 on the season Thursday night with a 17-10 road win against Coastal Division rival Georgia Tech. The Hokies were led by Logan Thomas who went 19 of 25 for 221 yards and a touchdown. Thomas also ran for 58 yards and an additional touchdown. The Yellow Jackets had chances to even the score in the 4th quarter, but a stop on 4th and 2 helped the Hokies seal the win.

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic league in the United States. Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the ACC sanctions competition in twenty-five sports in Division I of the NCAA for its twelve member universities: Boston College Eagles, Clemson Tigers, Duke Blue Devils, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Virginia Cavaliers, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. In 2011, the conference announced it was adding Syracuse and Pittsburgh to expand to fourteen members beginning in the 2013 academic year. Justin Thomas finished with a career-high 172 passing yards and had 3 total touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Jackets' defense recorded a season-high 9 tackles for loss in the game.

Duke vs. Georgia Tech: For the 2nd week in a row, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets looked impressive on both sides of the ball. Georgia Tech helf off a furious Blue Devils' comeback, coming away with the 23-20 overtime win over Duke at home on Saturday. Jeff Sims had an electric day for the Yellow Jackets, running for 95 yards on 17 carries and throwing for 227 yards and 2 touchdowns on 23-34 passing. Nate McCollum was Sims' main target, connecting with him 8 times for 101 yards and a score in the win. The Tech defense held Duke to just 278 total yards and picked off Riley Leonard deep in their own territory to stop a key potential scoring drive.

Miami snapped its losing streak with a tough road victory in Atlanta against Georgia Tech, 35-14. QB Jacurri Brown accounted for 3 of the Hurricanes’ 4 scores and 225 total yards. Through the air, Brown spread the ball around, as 7 Miami receivers had receptions. RB Jaylon Knighton picked up 118 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The defense was strong too, holding the Yellow Jackets to just 14 points while snagging 4 interceptions.

Scottie Scheffler returns to Austin Country Club to defend his title at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. By doing so, he would become the first person since Tiger Woods in 2004 to do so. The event will see 64 players, split into 16 groups of four compete in a round-robin format. After this, the player with the most points advances to single elimination play. Eight out of nine of the top players in the world with Ryder Cup teammates Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy both teeing it up in Texas. The Spaniard has been grouped with Rickie Fowler who, despite not winning on tour in over four years could prove a formidable opponent, having made the cut in every PGA TOUR event in 2023. McIlroy won the event in 2015 in which was the last WGC Match Play before it moved from Harding Park, California to Austin, Texas. Other notable names to look out for include 2021 winner Billy Horschel, two-time winner Jason Day and World No. 9 Viktor Hovland.

Parents and young adults filled a room at Big Sky High School on Monday for a showing of the documentary called "Screenagers Next Chapter."

The film was the second part of a trilogy highlighting how technology impacts kids' mental health.

"National emergency was declared in 2021 with Youth Mental Health in the U.S., and it's just gotten worse since then, to help flip the script on anxiety, stress and depression among kids, young adults," said senior community health specialist Peggy Schmidt


Filmmaker Delaney Ruston brings in professionals from the field of psychology, child psychology, child development researchers, addiction experts and more to teach parents what the tech revolution is doing.

Viktor Hovland will look to win his third consecutive World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba this weekend as the PGA TOUR heads to Mexico for the first time this season. At last year’s event, the Norwegian carded a very impressive 9-under 62 in the third round to pull clear of the field, leading to a four-shot victory. Scottie Scheffler returns to action this weekend, as does compatriot Collin Morikawa, who will be making his debut appearance at the event. Tony Finau will be making his much-anticipated season debut, after two victories in consecutive weeks at the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic in July saw him finish the season strongly inside the top 10 of the FedExCup Standings. Fresh off his win at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship last week, Seamus Power will once again be teeing it up, as will Argentine Emiliano Grillo, who has finished inside the top 10 on three occasions at El Camaleón Golf Course at Mayakoba in the past five years.

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference in the United States in which its fifteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA's) Division I, with its football teams competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest levels for athletic competition in US-based collegiate sports. The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-five sports with many of its member institutions' athletic programs held in high regard nationally. ACC teams and athletes have claimed dozens of national championships in multiple sports throughout the conference's history. Generally, the ACC's top athletes and teams in any particular sport in a given year are considered to be among the top collegiate competitors in the nation. The ACC is considered to be one of the six collegiate power conferences, all of which enjoy extensive media coverage and automatic qualifying for their football champion into the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). With the advent of the College Football Playoff in 2014, the ACC will be one of five conferences with a contractual tie-in to an "access bowl", the successors to the BCS.

Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, by seven universities located in the South Atlantic States, the conference added additional members in late 1953, 1979, 1991, 2004, and 2013. The 2004 and 2013 additions extended the conference's footprint into the Northeast and Midwest. The most recent expansion in 2013 saw the additions of the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University. In 2012, the University of Maryland's Board of Regents voted to withdraw from the ACC to join the Big Ten Conference. On November 28, 2012, the ACC's Council of Presidents voted unanimously to invite the University of Louisville as a full member, replacing Maryland.

The PGA TOUR heads to El Camaleón Golf Course in Mexico this week for the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba. Viktor Hovland will be on hand to defend his 2020 title, but will have to get the better of a star-studded field that includes 11 Ryder Cup players and 12 major champions. Former world number ones, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka and Luke Donald will all be vying for top spot, while Lucas Herbert will be hoping for another weekend to remember after winning his first TOUR title at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship last week. After tasting victory at the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, Mexican hopes lie with Abraham Ancer who will hope to improve upon his T12 finish at El Camaleón in 2020. A host of former winners will be returning to Mayakoba this year, including Brendon Todd, Matt Kuchar and Patton Kizzire, who won the Championship in 2019, 2018 and 2017, respectively.

CNBC explores challenges currently facing U.S. tech workers, including mass layoffs, widespread cuts in company budgets, and threats of deportation for H-1B visa holders.

"The layoffs to the start of 2024 signal a dramatic shift in the tech industry," said Jeff Shulman, professor at the University of Washington's Foster School of Business. The number of tech sector layoffs in 2024 has been outpacing the number of terminations in 2023. So far, about 42,324 tech employees were let go in 2024, according to

Layoffs.fyi, which tracks layoffs in the tech industry.

While layoffs have put stress on the workforce, a booming artificial intelligence market is giving the industry a renewed sense of optimism. Generative AI startup deals announced or finalized in the first quarter of this year totaled more than $12 billion compared to about $4.5 billion invested in the space last year, according to PitchBook.

On July 16, 2023, Canada opened visa applications for a pilot program that would allow up to 10,000 H-1B visa holders in the United States to apply for a three-year open-work permit in Canada. H-1B holders are highly educated and specialized foreign workers that work in fields such as tech. After massive layoffs in the tech industry, this was a lifeline for H-1B holders who needed to find a new job or face deportation.
