MEMORISE

      But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

READ:

Hebrews 11:5, 6

[5]. By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

[6]. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

EXPOSITION

       Pleasing God requires a deliberate choice to align our will with His, even when it may seem challenging, or unpopular. It involves prioritising His desires above our own and seeking His approval above the approval of others. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, as faith demonstrates our trust in His existence and His promises.

      Jesus Christ exemplified perfect obedience and faithfulness in pleasing the Father. Despite facing temptations and opposition. He remained steadfast in fulfilling God's will, even to the point of death on the cross. His unwavering commitment to God's purpose serves as a powerful example for us to follow. When we encounter difficult decisions, or find ourselves torn between conflicting priorities, let us emulate Jesus' example by choosing God's will above all else. Let our faith in His goodness and faithfulness guide our actions, knowing that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, grant me the faith to please You in all that I do, trusting in Your unfailing love and faithfulness.

2. Lord Jesus, help me to prioritise Your will above my own desires and the expectations of others.

3. Holy Spirit, empower Your Church to walk in faith and obedience, seeking to please You always.

1. Master, speak! Thy servant heareth,

 Waiting for Thy gracious word

 Longing for Thy voice that cheereth;

 Master! Let it now be heard.

 I am list'ning, Lord, for thee;

 What hast Thou to say to me?

2. Speak to me by name, O Master,

 Let me know it is to me;

 Speak, that I may follow faster,

 With a step more firm and free,

 Where the shepherd leads the flock,

 In the shadow of the Rock.

3. Master, speak! Though least and lowest,

 Let me not unheard depart;

 Master, speak! For o Thou knowest

 All the yearning of my heart,

 Knowest all its truest need;

 Speak! And make me blest indeed.

4. Master, speak! And make me ready,

 When Thy voice is truly heard,

 With obedience glad and steady

 Still to follow every word.

 I am listening, Lord for thee;

 Master, speak! O speak to me!

Amen.
