Olympic scandal broken down: XY athletes in female sports

Sky News host Rita Panahi breaks down the scandal involving a boxer with XY chromosomes as she accuses the International Olympics Committee of “weapon-grade gaslighting”.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif was booted from the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships after failing the International Boxing Association (IBA)'s gender eligibility test, reportedly over Khelif's elevated testosterone levels.

“We should disregard the evidence before our eyes and those pesky XY chromosomes,” Ms Panahi said.

“We are supposed to pretend that disorders of sex development give males a free pass to compete in women's events. On what planet is that fair to female competitors.”
