Ray Firey wrote this song in 1999 as a tribute to our own pastor at the time-commemorating his 10th anniversary at the church we he attended at the time. But this song is intended to be a tribute for ALL pastors faithfully doing the work of the Lord (Note: Year of 1998 on Video credits in in error-should be 1999). CREDITS: Ray Firey-All Guitar, Ray & Diana Firey-Vocals, Keyboard, Percussion, Bass Guitar-Tim Dunn (Diana's brother).

LYRICS: It's 5:00 on Sunday morning -- And though he's had but little sleep,
He knows he's made a promise he must keep.
For in just a few hours he will stand -- To break the bread of life again,
So he slips out of the bed onto his knees.
And over and over this story is told -- A shepherd is giving his life for his fold.

To answer the call, To follow God's leading,
To hear what He's speaking to one and to all.
He pours out his heart and seeks the anointing
For this holy appointing -- To Answer the Call

He was there the night the baby came -- we joined our hands and gave God thanks,
For this precious gift of life that heaven sent.
And when we laid our mom to rest -- Somehow he helped us face the test,
From life to death, he's been our faithful friend.
And over and over, this story is told -- A shepherd is giving his life for his fold.

To answer the call, To go where he's needed,
His work's not completed if one lamb is lost.
He pours our his life and toils for the Master,
This one we call Pastor, who's answered the call.

It may be the phone that rings, or a knock upon the door,
Or at midnight, God calls out his name, but he chooses once more

To answer the call, To follow God's leading,
To hear what He's speaking to one and to all.
He pours out his heart and seeks the anointing
For this holy appointing -- To Answer the Call
