Have Egypt allied themselves Israel now? Not one but TWO incidents in the last week are raising big questions of who's side they are on.

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed that the shipment for Israel was unloaded in Albania BEFORE heading to Egypt. It is now in Turkey and has been boarded by Activists!

Right, so Egypt has seemingly affirmed who’s side they are on with regards to Israel and everybody else they’re currently engaged in attacks on by allowing an Israeli warship to pass through the Suez Canal on the 1st November, citing legal convention as it’s reason for doing so, the reason it is hiding behind at any rate, despite having full sovereign control over the Suez Canal itself and having exercised that control in the past to actually restrict shipping, but not only that under international treaty it is obliged in the current climate to restrict Israeli shipping, especially a warship. So what has prompted this move from Egypt as ill-advised a move as this is? Have the been leaned on, are they afraid of something, or is it something else?
Right, so Egypt have allowed a German built Saar warship owned by Israel to pass through the Suez Canal though with reports scant on this event, little more than video footage having been shared of the ship as it travels through the Suez Canal, it isn’t actually clear whether it is heading north or south. I would imagine south, I can’t imagine this vessel has been docked at the only Israeli port south of the Suez Canal at Eilat, that has been too much of a target for the likes of the Houthis especially, but also other Gazan allies as well, but it hasn’t been confirmed which way it is headed that I have seen, You can imagine it might be heading south to perhaps deal with those Houthis or to try and protect shipping more, but why here and why now is still a bit of an unknown.
Just the fact that Egypt have allowed this vessel through the Suez Canal is enough to cause global outrage however, so much so that statements have hurriedly been made.
The Suez Canal Authority for example, the Egyptian government authority overseeing travel through the Suez Canal has stated that:
‘The Suez Canal is committed to implementing the Constantinople Convention, which guarantees the freedom of navigation through the canal without discrimination based on the nationality of the ships passing through.’
Well isn’t that convenient! The Constantinople Convention of 1888 is what they are citing and it basically says that the canal remains open to all vessels of all nations, during both peace and war, without discrimination. Right OK, but that is actually a bit of an oversimplification, because like most International Conventions that we’ve become accustomed to and introduced to since the events of October 7th have thrust them into the spotlight a lot more, it gets broken down into various separate Articles, and it is Article X of the Constantinople Convention that gives Egypt nowhere to hide on this score, it basically stating that Egypt have an exceptions clause here, in that while the Constantinople Convention guarantees free passage of ships, these rights also give Egypt specifically the right to block any ships...

5 of the best street foods in South A

Moving ahead from the scenic beauty and marvelous beauty of South Africa, the country also tops the arena of having the most affordable street food. A foodie traveler can find delicious and ready to eat food at every corner of the South African cities which are not only good in taste but also pocket-friendly. Today we bring you a round-up of some traditional South African street foods that celebrate the rainbow nation’s diverse culture and rich culinary heritage.

1. Bunny Chow
This is a very popular dish of South Africa and is loved by every local. This is not only a known street snack but is also included in the native foods of South Africa. A combination of bread and curry, this dish originated in the Durban Indian community and has made its way too many parts of South Africa. Bunny chow is widely eaten in India and can be found in some Indian restaurants in Cape Town.

2. Boerewors
A popular food in South Africa and was not only originated in South Africa but also in Zimbabwe. To qualify as Boerewors the dish must have at least 90% of meat. It is coiled shape and thicker than a sausage and is known to be derived from a type of sausage made in the south of Ardour River in France. It is made up of beef mince and also has coriander, cloves and nutmeg added to it.

3. Shisa Nyama
Shisa nyama, which literally means ‘burnt meat’ in Zulu, features a variety of BBQ meats – including boerewors, steak, chops, chicken and ribs, cooked on a braai. These grilled meats are usually served with a variety of accompaniments including the traditional mieliepap and chakalaka. A shisa nyama is usually done at parties, in someone’s backyard with a large gathering of friends around a braai, but even at that several restaurants in South Africa also offer shisa nyama.

5. Gatsby
This ultimate Capetonian classic foot-long sub is what sandwich dreams are made of. Ideal for sharing, the gatsby comprises a wide variety of fillings including chicken, steak, seafood, polony or viennas, slap chips, salad, cheese, eggs and sauces. While not related to the movie, ‘Great Gatsby’, this monstrous baguette, could apparently be called the ‘great Gatsby’ for its size.

4. Mogodu
A slow-cooked tripe stew, mogodu is well loved across Africa and sometimes also includes cow or sheep intestines, which you can smell a mile away, cooking in a huge pot over an open fire in most townships across South Africa. Mogodu is usually served with pap or tiff. Several restaurants offers mogodu and you could make a choice on where to have a try, for those who prefer to leave the experimenting to restaurants.
If you set foot on South African soil, don't leave before you've enjoyed a traditional Shisha Nyama, as much for the barbecued South African food for the cultural experience. You would want to try the Gatsby or the bunny chow after that.

In this session, Lauren discusses how playing simple, commercial board games can be a useful classroom activity. Games like Diplomacy, Memoir 44, or Twilight Struggle can illuminate scholarly concepts from theories of international relations to military tactics and strategy. Lauren will discuss her experience using board games to teach introductory lessons on international relations, highlighting challenges and opportunities for scholars and practitioners aiming to integrate games into their pedagogical arsenal.

Bio:

Lauren Sukin is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University. She studies international security, with a focus on the role of nuclear weapons in international politics. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys playing board games and convincing her dog not to eat pieces of board games. The Romance languages (also called Romanic languages or Neo-Latin languages) are the modern languages that evolved from Vulgar Latin between the third and eighth centuries and that form a subgroup of the Italic languages within the Indo-European language family.
Today, around 800 million people are native speakers worldwide, mainly in Europe, Africa, and the Americas, but also elsewhere. Additionally, the major Romance languages have many non-native speakers and are in widespread use as lingua francas. This is especially the case for French, which is in widespread use throughout Central and West Africa, Madagascar, Mauritius, and the Maghreb.
The five most widely spoken Romance languages by number of native speakers are Spanish (470 million), Portuguese (250 million), French (150 million), Italian (90 million), and Romanian (25 million).Because of the difficulty of imposing boundaries on a continuum, various counts of the modern Romance languages are given; for example, Dalby lists 26 based on mutual intelligibility:
Ibero-Romance: Spanish, Portuguese-Galician, Astur-Leonese, Aragonese, Judaeo-Spanish;
Occitano-Romance: Catalan, Occitan, Gascon;
Gallo-Romance: French, Franco-Provençal;
Rhaeto-Romance: Romansh, Ladin, Friulian;

Dr. Sully returns to discuss why strength training is absolutely essential for seniors, and how they can get stronger in their 50's and beyond. Strength training transforms the aging adult into an athlete of aging - the Masters Athlete. So, how should seniors exercise? With barbells, of course. Some modifications may be needed, but squats, presses, bench presses and deadlifts are the exercise prescription the doctor ordered.

How Should Seniors Exercise?
Nobody doesn’t need to be strong. Strength is the most fundamental fitness attribute, forming the foundation for all others. Strength is the basis for power, agility, speed, endurance, and balance. These are the capacities that allow us to meet the demands of our life and our environment.

So, everybody needs strength, which means everybody needs strength training. But nobody needs strength training more than seniors. Why? Because of all the arenas of life that demand fitness, aging is the most brutal of all. The aging process, if uncontested, is characterized by the steady loss of muscle tissue and strength, of balance and stamina, of bone density and resistance to illness and injury. Strength training preserves all of these vital tissues and capacities, which is why physicians and scientists increasingly recognize it as absolutely essential. Strength training transforms the aging adult into an athlete of aging – the Masters Athlete.

The Masters Athlete
Now, you might think that strength training for seniors would be completely different from training for younger people. But nothing could be further from the truth. Our work with Masters Athletes has shown us that the best results are realized when we put seniors on a program that is as close AS POSSIBLE to the programs we use in younger athletes. When we put a young person on a strength training program, we use barbell exercises–squats, presses, bench presses, and deadlifts, and we train these movements in a linear progression, a program in which we add weight to the bar at every training session.

What’s the ideal program for Masters Athlete, say aged 70? Well, it’s barbell exercises: squats, presses, bench presses, and deadlifts, trained in a linear progression. The closer we can keep seniors to a standard program with standard exercises, the better results we get. Using this approach with seniors is safe, productive and powerful.

Of course, in practice, things can get a little more complicated. There’s going to be a lot more variability in an older population than a younger one, because these people have lived long and different lives, with more time for their diverse experiences and genetics to manifest as different abilities and disabilities, different strengths and weaknesses.

So while we try to keep seniors as close to standard exercise selection and programming as possible, modifications are often required. Here are some of the most common modifications we encounter in practice.

👉👉👉Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci in Florence, Tuscany. Under the direction of Aldo Gucci (son of Guccio), Gucci became a worldwide-known brand, an icon of the Italian Dolce Vita. Following family feuds during the 1980s, the Gucci family was entirely ousted from the capital of the company by 1993. After this crisis, the brand was revived with a provocative 'Porno Chic' props. In 1999, Gucci was acquired by the French conglomerate Pinault Printemps Redoute. During the 2010s, Gucci became an iconic 'geek-chic' brand.

In 2019, Gucci operated 487 stores for 17,157 employees, and generated €9.628 billion in sales (€8.2 billion in 2018). Marco Bizzarri is CEO of Gucci since December 2014, and Alessandro Michele creative director since January 2015. Gucci is a subsidiary of the French luxury group Kering.


In 1921, Guccio Gucci bought his own shop on 7, Via della Vigna Nuova in Florence, Azienda Individuale Guccio Gucci, where he sold imported leather luggage. He also opened a small workshop to have his own leather goods made by local craftsmen. Eventually, a larger workshop had to be acquired to house Gucci's 60 artisans. In 1935 the invasion of Ethiopia by Mussolini led the League of Nations to impose a trade embargo on Italy. Leather became scarce, pushing Guccio Gucci to introduce other fabrics in the composition of the products, such as raffia, wicker, wood, linen and, jute. The rombi motif, a Gucci signature, was created. The Gucci's developed a new tanning technique to produce "cuoio grasso", which became a Gucci trademark. In 1937, Gucci launched its handbags.

Guccio's wife and children all worked in the shop. Aldo, the son of Guccio, became increasingly involved in the family company since he started working there in 1925. He convinced his father to grow by opening a new shop in Rome (21 Via Condotti) in 1938, and launched more Gucci accessories (gloves, belts, wallets, keychains). During WWII, the artisans of Gucci worked on making boots for the Italian infantry.
