Basic Education Minister on priorities for her department
The medium-term budget allocation for the department of Basic Education is R32,3 billion. This was announced by Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, during a budget vote in Parliament on Monday.
Gwarube also announced the five key areas she will be focusing on in her term. These include access to quality early childhood development, improving literacy and numeracy across all phases of schooling, and access to quality inclusive education are among the five.
The minister also said she will be reviewing the implementation, funding, outcomes of the programmes of the department to assess their impact.
