When Jesus calls these twelve ordinary men to follow Him in order to BECOME, His first assignment for them is to preach. At the surface, this seemed like a strange instruction to give these men who were not known for their eloquence or persuasive communication. They would have likely been deemed ill-equipped for such a task that would have required extensive training under a recognized Rabbi. Yet, as soon as they are acknowledged as disciples, all of them are sent to preach.
Over the years, Christians have relegated preaching to the gifted or those that are theologically trained to extrapolate the nuances of the Biblical text. However, the mandate to preach was given to every disciple.
Everyone must preach!
