Lagos Inferno | Fire Destroys Popular Dosunmu Market, Second Time In One Month

Over 15 buildings have collapsed due to the intensity of the fire that engulfed part of Dosunmu Market in the Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State on Tuesday, April 9 2024

The cause of the fire, according to eyewitnesses, could be attributed to the refuelling of a running generator at the market. This resulted in the fire which could not be contained, spreading to various buildings.

Emergency responders at the scene of the event included the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA), Federal and State Fire Services, the Nigeria Police, and the Nigeria Ports Authority fire service.

Victims lamented the reoccurrence of market fire incidents and urged the government to implement modalities to curb fire disasters.
