Women Pastors and Elders are Unbiblical | 1 Timothy 2 - Dr. James White

Holy Spirit of God will not give women a "gift of preaching" or a "gift of teaching" in direct contradiction with clear teaching of Scripture in 1 Timothy 2-3. Anyone who uses this argument, perhaps unknowingly, are claiming a type of new revelation on-par with God-breathed Scripture.


I realize there is abuse of these texts that speak of exclusively male church leadership (particularly in fundamentalist Baptist circles, which practice I detest and attack as much as anyone), but going woke is not the solution. Going back to interpreting the Scripture in its historical context must be the default practice.
In the same way, you cannot use Ephesians 5:21 to negate Ephesians 5:22-33. Again, many are abusing this text to degrade women (as your typical IFB preachers do), and I reject such teachings and I feel horrible for the poor ladies stuck in such environments. Only after leaving the IFB did I realize how denigrating their view of women actually is, even though they deny it. I deeply regret ever holding their beliefs.
Some of IFB preachers even claim that women are not created in God's image; misinterpreting 1 Cor 11:7 - "man is image and glory of God, but woman is glory of man"! Of course, Genesis 1:26-27 states that as a decree to create man in His image, God created male and female. "Man" (Heb. adam, Gr. LXX ανθρωπος) refers to mankind, humans (compare Gen 5:1-2 where God called both male and female adam or man or mankind, also Gen 9:5-7 where Yahweh institutes death penalty for all who shed man's (Heb. adam), for in the image of God he made man (Heb. adam)).
Anyway; there is a proper way to interpret verses 22-23 in light of verse 21, and not emphasize one to the detriment of the other.

Great example of this is Beth Allison Barr (whom even some professing Christians promote), who does not believe in inerrancy of Scripture in any meaningful or historical sense, as I have heard her incoherently define it in one podcast.

I have been listening to many testimonies of women who were abused as children and/or minors by their IFB pastors or deacon, and it is heartbreaking. What is sad is that most of them find comfort in accepting woke ideologies, and as a result are in great danger of leaving orthodox Christian faith, if they haven't already. I've heard one such poor lady even now feeling guilty for being racist her whole life without realizing it - because she is a white woman, and according to critical theory and intersectionality, all white people are inherently racist and cannot help it. And now she is in constant penance.

When you accuse the entire Church (using the term to refer to all churches and denomination consisting of true Christians) of 2000 years of "white male patriarchy", or that predominantly white male pastors came up with complementarian views, that argumentation did not come from Scripture, but rather from modern concepts of identity politics and critical theory - cultural Marxism. And if you claim that for 2000 years the whole Church has been wrong (as I heard some insinuating), and only now did we get it right, how is this different than any other cult mentality that claims the same principle?
